Pat Decoster discovered Great Impressions in the yellow pages and later dropped in, browsed through our store, and met decorator Donna Crabtree who made an appointment to meet Pat at her new condominium.
“Home for us is Maine,” says Pat Decoster, “so Donna started by taking our framed print of the Cape Elizabeth lighthouse (in Maine), one of our favorite places to visit, and hung it over the sofa. Immediately this began to make our condominium feel cozy and comfy.”
The Decoster’s immediate need in their new home was window treatments. Working with Donna, she chose window treatments for each room including the sunroom with Graber's cordless cellular shades in "fern" and Thibaut's Brandywine fabric (hung from finials in place of decorative hooks or rods). In the office Chocolate Brown and Sea Glass were used in a "petticoat" style layered valance meshing the classic look of a traditional toile and the contemporary look of embroidered micro suede together to form a simplistic yet sleek style.
The main bath across the hall followed with the same colors and fabrics to coordinate the two spaces and framed glass tiles were hung on the wall to add to the overall look.
While Pat and her husband were in their Maine home, Donna chose accessories which included artwork, place settings for the table, chunky glass candle sticks for the mantel, wool toss pillows created from Turkish rugs, and florals for Mrs. Decoster's approval.
“Each time we arrived back in Marion, I was so excited to come in and see what new things Donna had chosen,” Pat shared. “One of the last times, she added three pillar candles on the mantle, and my husband remarked how wonderful the room smelled despite being closed up for a couple weeks.”
Mrs. Decoster is particularly pleased with their master bedroom done in done in Apple Green, Whipped Chocolate, and a touch of Rouge Pink. The luxurious comforter on the bed reverses from Lafayette's apple green print to a tone-on-tone strip in surfside green. The flanged edge pillow shams in Whipped Chocolate compliment the round button pillow with the stripe in Pink Rouge.
She laughed as she admitted that Donna had chosen four stretched canvas prints of tulips with the focal piece in the center being a faux window pane with “Paris damask”painted on glass. Pat was really skeptical and remembers telling Donna that she did not think it would work. “I couldn’t believe how beautiful it looked after she put it up,” Pat said. She also liked how Donna listened to her and paid particular attention to details which really added a professional touch to her whole house. Pat is so proud of her home and looks forward to having Donna help her move the pieces around as the seasons change.
